Metals are minerals like iron or lead that are found underground in rocks and are separated from the rocks using heat. Thry are good conductors of heat and electricity, and are malleable (they can be hammered into sheets) and ductile (they can be drawn into wire).
Metals are usually very strong, most durable and highly resistant to everyday wear and tear. As such, they have been used since ancient times for a lot of things. Industrial and base metals are used in the construction, manufacturing, and technology industries which include copper, aluminum, steel, zinc and many other metals.
